Cold Laser Therapy in Bellingham
What Is Cold Laser Therapy?
Cold laser therapy, which is also called Low-Level Laser Therapy (LLLT), is a modality that uses specific wavelengths of light to interact with tissue and is thought to help speed up the healing process. Cold laser therapy can be used on patients who suffer from various acute and chronic conditions to help reduce pain and inflammation and increase function.
At Noble Chiropractic, we use cold laser therapy to reduce inflammation, decrease pain and facilitate faster healing in patients with acute conditions like sprains and strains. It’s not a stand-alone treatment, but something we use in conjunction with chiropractic and other therapies to support and augment your healing.
Whatever your injury or condition, we design a care plan specifically for your needs and to help you reach—or exceed—your functional goals. We combine a variety of healing techniques as needed to help your body create new, healthy neural patterns. As an adjunct, cold laser therapy can help provide immediate pain relief and faster healing to acute injuries such as ankle sprains, neck and back pain, and more.
Generally, we use other techniques for patients with chronic pain conditions. However, we may use cold laser for certain chronic conditions as well.

How Cold Lasers Work
A small handheld device is used during each session. Various wavelengths and outputs of low-level light are applied directly to a targeted area such as the knee or low back. The body tissue then absorbs the light, and the red and near-infrared light produce a reaction. The damaged cells respond with a physiological reaction that promotes regeneration.

Alternative Option
One of the reasons why cold laser therapy is gaining in popularity is it can provide lasting pain relief, which can help people get off of their pain medication. Cold laser therapy also may help patients avoid surgery. And compared to surgery, the therapy is much more cost-effective.
