The Performance Lab Home Test
I put together this Home Test video so you can do some of the tests we do in The Performance Lab. The idea is to see where there is delay and loss of power in your body.
What is delay? Delay is akin to having 2 vehicles connected by a chain. One is planning to pull the other to the mechanic because the other car has a bad transmission. There is some slack in the chain and the vehicle that is doing the pulling starts to accelerate but the second car does not move….there is a delay until the slack is removed. So there is no power to the second vehicle. Once the delay or slack is removed the second vehicle starts to move. So when you are doing these tests if you are not able to respond because of delay or slack the result will be not being able to do the tests in a very easy manor. Also, delay creates injury. Imagine if the front vehicle accelerates FAST, the chain may snap or a bumper gets torn off. Relate that to the forces of running (muscles having to accelerate FAST as well…and then stop fast…with delay…ouch!) for instance if you have delay in your muscles that propel you.
Accomplishing these tests with ease and solid form is essential to seeing whether your body is able to respond without delay. Delay is a power killer and getting it corrected is essential to seeing a higher power output. Unable to perform these tests flawlessly is an indicator of you not reaching your potential power output. We’ve seen when we remove the delay that power, coordination, agility and balance all improve. How well can you do?
